About Us

We believe the following to be true:

  1. Life is too short not to fish.
  2. Fishing from crappy boats is less desirable than fishing from awesome boats.
  3. Sitting at home and not fishing because you can’t afford to buy a boat is not an option.

We are avid fishermen that LOVE fishing boats. We think about boats a lot.

We believe that there is something special about being the “captain” of your own fishing boat (even if it’s not yours!). Going out with guides can be a lot of fun, but nothing beats the satisfaction of landing a big Chinook when you’re the one that is in charge of the boat. Lets face it, once you’ve reached a certain level of competency, you probably don’t want to go fishing with a guide.

Having fished from some pretty lame boats over the years, we firmly believe that the boat you’re sitting in can have a significant impact on the quality of your fishing and your vacation.

We’re guys with careers and young families. We couldn’t afford to own boats big enough for our families and we couldn’t find a place that would rent us the kind of boats we wanted to fish from. Instead of sitting around complaining about it, we decided to create the company that we couldn’t find.

The Guys

Casey Woods lives in Calgary Alberta and is a technology consultant, entrepreneur, and salmon fishing addict. He takes care of marketing, advertising, booking, the website, and dreaming about boats. Casey has been looking for an excuse to have a fishing related business on Vancouver Island for many years…

Garth Drummond lives in North Delta, BC and is a CGA with a public accounting practice based in Richmond, BC. Garth is the financial brains behind salmonboats.ca.

Dave DeJong lives in Port Alberni, is finishing up a Masters Degree, works part-time as a pastor in a local church, and is our “man on the ground”. Dave is taking care of the boats and is most likely the guy you’ll meet when you pickup and drop off the boat.

Finding Us
The Boston Whaler is situated in North Delta BC (a suburb of Vancouver) for August, September and October 2007. it is a short trip to the Tsawassen Ferry terminal where you can catch ferries to either Victoria or Nanaimo.
