About Port Alberni
Port Alberni is a bustling community located at the end of Alberni inlet, in the middle of Vancouver Island. Located less than an hour from the Nanaimo ferries, Port Alberni is possibly the most accessible of the premium fisheries on Vancouver Island. Every summer, millions of Salmon migrate though Barkley Sound and up Alberni Inlet to spawn in the Stamp and Somass rivers. This provides a fantastic Salmon fishery that runs from July through to October and features Chinook, Coho, Sockeye, Pink, and Chum Salmon.
A great thing about fishing Port Alberni is the proximity to Barkley Sound. If the Salmon aren’t to be found in Alberni inlet, you can easily run out to Barkley Sound to pursue the fish.

How it works:
Our boats live on trailers in Port Alberni. You have two choices when it comes to fishing Port Alberni:
- If you have your own towing vehicle you are welcome to take the boat in and out of the water each day
- If you don’t have a towing vehicle you can choose to arrange overnight moorage in Port Alberni. In this case, we can put the boat in the water at the beginning of the rental, and then take it out at the end.
The boats:
We rent out the kind of salmon fishing boats that WE want to fish from. These are really nice boats that are built to handle the west coast of Vancouver Island. Our boats are fully equipped with the latest engines and electronics to make your fishing vacation a pleasure. Check out our growing rental fleet of fishing boats.
Our ideal clients:
Our ideal clients are moderately experienced fishermen who don’t own a boat, don’t want to hire a fishing guide or fishing charter operation, and want to fish for Salmon and Halibut in the waters of Ucluelet BC. Our clients would rather run the boat and call the shots. In other words, our ideal clients are a lot like us: Guys that love fishing and boats but can’t justify the expenses or hassles associated with owning a “west coast capable” fishing boat.
The cost:
We believe that our rental rates represent excellent value for your fishing dollar. We are significantly less expensive that guided fishing charters and MUCH less expensive than owning your own boat! Check out our very reasonable rental rates.
