Why Rent from SalmonBoats.ca?

  1. Our boats don’t suck!
Let’s face it: most rental boats are pretty brutal. They are typically small, under-powered, with no electronics, and at least 20 years old. Ours are the complete opposite. We offer AWESOME, recent model boats that are fully equipped with the latest electronics, and downriggers. These are boats that we want to fish from. Forget about 20 year old, 16′ fiberglass run-abouts with 50HP outboards and ancient (if any) electronics. If we don’t want to fish from it, then it isn’t in our fleet.
  2. Boats are expensive, time consuming, and take up a lot of space!
You can probably afford to buy a boat. But does it really make sense? How many days are you really going to get on the water each year? Where are you going to store it? Do you really want to have to own a big truck/SUV (fuel prices!) in order to haul it around? What about the extra costs associated with the ferry, registration, insurance, etc.?
  3. Buying a boat is a TERRIBLE investment.
Ask any boat owner: There is almost nothing on God’s green earth that depreciates faster than a fishing boat. Assuming that you had $50K to spend on a boat, you would be MUCH further ahead to invest that money and then rent a boat for those 2 weeks a year that you want to head out!
  4. Save money and fish more!
Renting a boat is less than half the cost of hiring a guide – You could hire a guide for 2 days or you could rent one of our boats for 4-5 days. Or do a combination of the two! Either way you get more fishing for you money and that is never a bad thing.
  5. Do you really want/need a guide?
We’ve progressed in our fishing and boating capabilities to the point where we really don’t need or want a guide. We go fishing to hang out with our buddies, not with a guide (regardless of how nice he is). If you’re like us, and you know what you’re doing, we think that renting a premium boat and heading out with your buddies is a pretty great option.
  6. Towing your boat from Oregon, California, Montana, Idaho, Alberta, etc. is a major hassle
Our boats are located in the centre of the action and they’re ready to go fishing. Towing a boat from far away and then navigating BC Ferries is a hassle. Wouldn’t it be easier to just get yourself to Port Alberni and then take one of our boats by water to Bamfield, Ucluelet, or Barkley Sound?
  7. Our boats are equipped for big water and serious fishing
Our North River Seahawks can handle big water and they are setup for serious fishing. The west side of Vancouver Island is no place for a 17’ Double Eagle! If you’re serious about fishing Ucluelet, Tofino, Bamfield, Nootka Sound, etc. then you need to be in a serious boat.
